June 5 - Claygate 1st XI v Nutfield

Claygate won the toss on a hot and sunny day and with two key batsmen missing,.elected to field first.

A slow and steady third wicket stand of 108 saw Nutfield reach 146 for 2 after 37 overs, but then a four wicket burst by Joel (4-53) and a tight spell by Simon Pitt (12 overs for just 31) restricted Nutfield to188 for 8 after 48 overs.

Claygate's top order got themselves in ....and out ....but Duncan Murphy, promoted to number 3, hit three sixes and as many fours in his maiden half century for the club  finishing on 53 .

The middle order tottered leaving Claygate staring at defeat at 89 for 7 after 27 overs.  However a fine rearguard action by Vikram Prabhakar (39), and Man of the Match Joel Watkins (26*) together with Luke Webb (19*) took Claygate to just 10 runs of victory -  recording a winning draw at 180-8 after 42 overs.

It was also Tom's Laws farewell game for this summer before flying to his teaching assignment in Sudan. All the best Tom!

Claygate have a key match against Tadworth at home next week.
