Claygate fire up
for league opener
An overwhelming victory for Claygate against visitors Norwood Exiles was the Dalmore Avenue sides final preparation before the league season starts next weekend.
Bowling first, the home side demolished the visitors for 132, with two wickets each for Craig Schulz, David Wright and Simon Pitt.
Claygate then cruised to a nine wicket victory with wicket keeper batsman Lance Mayer making a powerful 88 which included fourteen 4’s and two 6’s. Claygate start life in the first division of the Surrey Downs League against Netherne next Saturday.
The Seconds also start their league season next week, but had a disappointing display against Thames Ditton 2nd XI. Claygate were skittled for 144 on Giggs Hills Green, only Damian Ross (41) providing some resistance. Ditton had a easy job knocking off the runs in only 29 overs for the loss of only 4 wickets. Adrian Smith taking 2 for 21.
