Claygate edge closer to a double!

Claygate’s 1st XI had a walkover this weekend in Surrey Downs Division One due to the unfortunate death of one of the Ockham side. The points awarded enable Claygate to stay at the top of the league with just three games to go. However the Dalmore Avenue side have a difficult run-in and it’s likely that the decider will be a table top clash on 27 August against North Holmwood.  Holmwood currently trail Claygate by 27 points, so this one has the potential to go all the way!

It looks like the second eleven, in Surrey Downs Division 3, are set for a similar exciting finish! On Saturday against Headley Old Freemans, Claygate posted a useful 280 for 8, with Duncan Murphy making a superb 136 - his maiden century. He was backed up by Chris Howe with 37, Joel Watkins 35, and Seb Huff 26 not out. In reply, Headley Old Freemans finished 100 runs short on 171 all out. Ed Jones taking 2-47, Chris Howe 3-23 and Dillon Woods 3-14.

The 2nd XI are in 2nd place trailing Newdigate by just 8 points and it promises to be a very close run-in in last 3 games.
